About 500 cars of liquefied gas are at risk of explosion in Poland because of the sanctions imposed on Novatek subsidiary Novatek Green Energy. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
“The very real danger is related to the company’s loss of control and the inability to further transport and unload about 500 rail cars filled with liquefied gas that legally entered Polish territory,” Novatek Green Energy said in a statement.
The company says that long idle railcars on the tracks may release gas into the atmosphere and cause a fire. We are talking about 40 million liters of propane-butane gas, which must be immediately delivered to the transshipment terminals.
“Due to the sanctions imposed, Novatek Green Energy cannot take any action in this regard,” the company concluded.
Earlier, Polish authorities had obliged Novatek Green Energy to transfer its gas transportation infrastructure to local companies for management.
